Graph Architecture
Directed graph, not a spreadsheet
Most food safety systems store traceability data in flat tables. A flat table can tell you what a lot contains. A directed graph can tell you where every unit of that lot went, through how many transformations, and whether each step carried a valid certificate. That is the difference between spreadsheet traceability and Loamy traceability.
Each node in the Loamy graph represents a unique lot at a specific supply chain tier. Each edge represents a Critical Tracking Event: a handoff where something was received, shipped, transformed, or cooled. Certificates attach to edges, not just to the lot record, so you can verify that a specific certificate covered a specific handoff.

A recall starts with a lot code or ingredient name. Loamy traverses from that starting node through every downstream connection and returns a structured report within seconds.

Data Captured
What Loamy stores on every node and edge
- Lot Identifier
- The traceability lot code as defined under FSMA 204, extracted from the certificate and matched to your internal lot numbering convention.
- Critical Tracking Event Type
- One of six FDA-defined CTEs: Growing, Receiving, Transforming, Creating, Shipping, or Cooling, recorded at each supply chain handoff.
- Quantity and Unit of Measure
- Case counts, pallet quantities, and weight measurements as they appear on each certificate, normalized to a consistent unit schema across suppliers.
- Certificate Reference
- The parsed certificate ID, issuing party, test results, and compliance status, attached to the edge where that certificate covered a handoff.
- Location and Business Identifier
- Shipping and receiving location, business name, and any GSTIN or FDA Facility Registration Number referenced in the original documents.
- Timestamp Chain
- Harvest date, ship date, receive date: every timestamp present in the certificate chain, forming an auditable timeline across the full supply path.
